one week down

one week down.....i officially have one week of the new job under my belt! this past week has gone by so fast! i think part of it has to do with the fact that it has slightly turned me into an old person because i am getting up so early and going to bed so much earlier. i have been averaging getting to work an hour to 45 minutes earlier than i did at my old job and staying until just about as late....the upside is right now it is 2:30pm on Friday and i am already home!!! that's right....getting done at noon on fridays makes it all worth it! :)

so far i have really enjoyed the new job. it's funny because if you told me three years ago this is what i would be doing with my life there is no way i would have believed you. i just happened to fall, i love when people say that because i totally don't believe it yet i say it too. i am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for my life so i don't think that 'i just happened to fall into' the career path that i am on....but i digress....

so anyways...i am really enjoying the new job and that it is more financially planning as opposed to just investments and transactional activities as the old job was. i like putting together reports with all the little pieces of a persons life and creating this plan for their future. i enjoy doing things like that....i'm a planner by nature what can i say!

speaking of planning....i recently have really gotten into using the google calendar. this time of year gets really busy and crazy and i have a tendency sometimes to forget what all i have going on so i just decided to put it all on the google calendar. if you haven't tried it you should because it is pretty great. i don't know everything that it can do but it seems as good as outlook at work so it is nice to have that for social use. anyways enough nerdy calendar talk.

all in all i am really enjoying the new job and i am excited for the challenges that lie ahead in it!

diamonds on the soles of her shoes...

well this is my first blog...after many conversations about them with several blogging friends i decided to give it a whirl! :)

i am currently going thru a paul simon phase and can't stop listening to his music. i am very much partial to his solo stuff and not as much the 'and garfunkel' part. one of my favorites is the title of the blog...no surprise there because i am insanely obsessed with shoes.

sidenote: my roommate and i were talking about all of my shoes one day and realized that I had bought 11 pairs of shoes in the nine months we have lived together....i feel that might be a bit excessive.

anyways...there is just something wonderful about paul simon's music that just puts me in a relaxed and wonderful mood. i love how music can truly do that. music has such a powerful way relating to so many people and emotions and experiences for so many different people. i love how listening to a song can take me so quickly to a memory i feel as if i am in that moment all over again.

'heaven is a place on earth' is a huge song of my childhood. whenever i hear that song i immediately remember being in preschool and rollerskating around the gym in the afternoons while i waited for my mom to pick me up. that was my jam back in the day!

well i hope that this blog is interesting to those who read it. alli and i have had discussions that we don't think we are interesting enough to blog but i want to prove that wrong...anyways enjoy!
